Just a follow up on this situation. The dealer replaced all rotors and brake pads today under warranty. The rust was not a result of salt damage. The dealer said that GM told them that there had been a limited number of vehicles built with defective parts. GM said that less than 500 were affected. The rotors were not only rusted but pitted.

Glad they were able to resolve for you; sorry that you were one of the unfortunate ones with a defective set of rotors, but that explains why you were experiencing those conditions.
