Rear seat won't fold down

It won't even budge. Stays in the locked position. Just one of 'em though. Anyone else have this problem and find a fix?

Re: Rear seat won't fold down

My sister has the same problem in her '13 Nox. She was going to bring it to the dealership to get it fixed under warranty. She hasn't had time yet though...

Re: Passenger side rear seat wouldn't fold down

Had the same problem and found the cable release was bound up and not moving. Just try pushing the seat back to the rear while "gently" pulling the release lever. If you pull hard on the release lever it won't move when pushing the seat back to the rear. Worked for me about 6 months ago and hasn't been a problem since then.

Re: Rear seat won't fold down

Hello - Has anyone else had this problem and found a fix? I just bought a 2012 Terrain SLE-2 and love it, but have the same issue. I tried several times but I can't figure out what might be wrong and why it's doing that. The dealership that I bought it from is about a 2 hour drive and said that it'd be covered under the factory warranty if I brought it in but I don't want to do that if I can fix it. I don't need to fold it down as of now but in the near future, I'm sure I'll need to. If anyone has some more insight, I'd appreciate it. Thank You

I just bought a 2013 equinox. Same problem. I took the release handle off to discover a broken grommet clip in the plastic. Ordered a new one for $33 from Chevy. It took 10 minutes to remove and probably 15 to install when it comes in. This is probably a $150 job at the dealers but any mechanically inclined person can do it. Good luck future readers, I think this is a design fault with the plastic release handle so it will happen again.

Appreciate you sharing this here, saved me a headache. I needed to fold the seat to carry something so I was able to pull out the part and pull wires manually.

Attaching pictures in case they help someone in the future. As you can see one grove is broken completely - the other is starting to. This is where plastic part of wire clips on to stay in place so the metal wire can be pulled.

Also I discovered that the right side (behind passenger) seat only uses one wire -and it's on the side that is not broken in the picture (I don't think sides matter actually). The part seems to be exactly same. Since this is design fault like you mentioned I will buy spare anyway and keep around, but swap the two for now and I should still be fully functional.

This should be a recall...it's a total design fault and not a wear & tear item...

Hopefully I can find parts vendor that offers lifetime warranty. If I find anything more useful like part number or good store I will post back.

I know this is an old thread, but does anyone have a link as to where I can buy a new grommet clip? I'm having the exact same issue but I can't seem to find the part online. It would be for a 2012 Equinox
