I own a Canadian 2009 Chevy Equinox and am trying to bypass the dusk automatic headlights.
I tried unplugging the photo cell located on the upper dash between the steering wheel and the windshield, but that caused the headlights to stay on full time.
So, open circuit = full on, close circuit (with daylight) = off.
I replaced the photo cell with a 5 ohm resister and it seems to have worked, but now my dic and dash lights donít auto dim when I turn the lights on. Makes it hard to drive at night.
I was told that if I flashed my bcm with the U.S. program, this may allow me to turn off the headlights while in drive, but no one is sure if it will mess up other features in the bcm.
I tried adding an on/on toggle switch between the photo cell and a resistor wire so I can manually switch between manual control and the automatic photo cell, but that didnít work either, it seems the photo cell keeps changing the resistance value and turns the headlights on.
Does anyone know how I can manually control the headlights while in drive
