Security Problems

Hi I will try to make this short. Friday we remote started the car, then put key in and turned it to on. It killed everything, dash lights, engine, running lights everything. Took key out and tried again, inserted key dash lights came on turned key to start car killed the lights. Did it one more time and alarm sounded used key fob to turn it off. Tried again and it kept our key wouldn't give it back. Cop came by asked if we needed help he got his jumper box and gave that a try it juiced up battery enough that we got key back and dashlights came back on but if we tried to start car it would shut the ligths off still. Next day we replaced battery did the same in key in, lights come on, turn key they shut off. Replaced battery in key fob same thing. Read somewhere to hold down unlock button turn key to on twice then hold down unlock and lock buttons to reset. IT WORKED. kinda... Now when we get out of the car we can use key fob to lock the doors. When we come back after a few minutes it won't unlock or lock at all via the key fob so we have to use the key to get in. Which sounds the alarm. Once the alarm sounds it will listen to the key fob again and turn off the alarm. but unlock button still doesn't work. Any help would be great. Thanks

Just a guess. You might try section 5 in the owners manual. Its called vehicle personalization which might help you with the lock/unlock features. Perhaps they got screwed up with the battery failure.

If you have a teen driver in the family, give the car to them that way you'll always know when they are leaving the house
