DIY Upgrade to Autodim Rearview Mirror...will it work on my 2017 Nox?

I just picked up a 2017 Nox LT 4 banger and it has the Onstar rearview mirror but no auto dimming. I have kinda grown to like the auto dimming feature and would like to know if the following 2016 GM mirror would work (2017 mirrors are not yet listed on GM Parts Direct):

http://www.gmpartsdirect.co/oem-parts/gm-mirror-inside-13503051/?c=Zz1ib2R5JnM9Z2xhc3Mtd2luZHNoaWVsZCZpPUdWMTAzNDI1JnI9MiZhPWNoZXZyb2xldCZvPWVxdWlub3gmeT0yMDE2JnQ9bHQmZT0yLTRsLWw0LWdhcw%3D%3D

This mirror does not have OnStar buttons nor GPS. I do not need the "talking" portion of OnStar, but I do need the OnStar remote starting functionality.

Will this mirror work without throwing codes? Also, I do not have nav, so I don't need the GPS functionality.

Thanks!

Thanks for the link to the previous post. I entered "2017 Equinox" on the eBay site and it said that it was not compatible. Does any one know if the eBay mirror is compatible with a 2017 and the site just hasn't been updated?

Thanks!

An FYI for you - My Equinox has the Electcromatic Dimming Mirror, and to be honest, I really don't care for it. It tends to darken the background too much, so I have a hard time judging how far back cars are in back of me based upon the light's brightness. Just my $0.02.

Wish I could trade with you for some $$, but mine has the rear camera's screen built into it.

Actually, the one in that eBay auction in the other thread was a genuine GM mirror, just not specifically for the Equinox...the only difference was the artwork on the buttons was slightly different.

I tried to swap the buttons and did some minor damage to the first one I ordered and went ahead and ordered a 2nd one. Can't see the damage when it's installed. I still have the first one if you're interested. Message me your email and I'll send pics, but I'll let you have it for $35 shipped (48 States).

I, too, have slight to moderate OCD and the minor damage that is not visible would drive me nuts! Thanks, though.

No worries! I've been called OCD and/or anal many times over the years! I just like things perfect, so I know where you're coming from too! Once my Nox is several years old and has a few more scratches, I'll probably need it and use it. My 10" subs shake my mirrors pretty good and the rear view mirror on my last car couldn't hold its position after several years and I had to replace it eventually too 😎

I'm gonna go for the eBay mirror (now $75...you guys got a deal last year!!!) and I'll let everyone know if it works on a 2017.
Let us know how it works out as I also have a 2017 Nox and was thinking about doing the same.I have grown accustomed to it in my 2010 Camaro. Also would be nice to know what model car you are swapping it out from. Maybe a decent pic of the plug would be nice too. So far I have only swapped out the outer mirrrors which have the blind spot convex corners which is a simple swap from previous Nox years.

Re: DIY Upgrade to Autodim Rearview Mirror...will it work on my 2017 Nox?s

Just installed the "eBay mirror" http://www.ebay.com/itm/310771934015?ul_noapp=true

on my 2017 Nox.

Works great. Took 15 minutes. Thanks for the photos and advice from thread

A couple thoughts/ notes from the install:

For those in cold climes, do the install with the inside of the car warm. Removal of the plastic cover when cold might break the 4 "clips" that hold the cover to the windshield.

Remove the old mirror first to gain access to the electrical plug "release". Since this release is closest to the windshield, you can't easily remove the plug before u remove the mirror. Once u remove the mirror, no problem removing the plug.

I put a drop of blue locktite on the new mirror set screw a a little preventive maintenance for future mirror wiggles.
