New 2019 Terrain transmission question

Hello,

I recently leased a new 2019 Gmc Terrain 1.5t and I love the vehicle so far. I had some small issues with the interior and power lift gate but it has been fixed by the dealer since.

My question regarding the transmission however I feel is a little bit more than small interior issues.
The transmission after sitting for awhile (overnight or when I'm at work end of shift) when the transmission shifts from 1-2 is fine but from 2-3 the transmission feels like it looses or slips the gear and the tachometer revs up like in neutral and it will finally go into gear but not gentle it jolts forward slightly and everything is fine after that. It's only the first shifts from a cold start.

Is this normal? Or is this worth getting looked at?

Thanks.

Your trans should shift smooth thru all gears cold or at operating temps.
You should bring this to the dealers attention and have your concerns documented on a GM repair order.
Get a copy and keep for future reference.

You have plenty of warranty left and being a lease vehicle you are in a good position.
Your call if you want to drive it like it is for a while to see if it gets better.

I just hate going to the dealership. It's pulling teeth to prove to them things are wrong. If they can't duplicate the issue they don't fix it. I have a rattle in my door that sounds like metal rattling around and I have multiple videos of and the dealer drives the car and can't hear it so they won't fix it.

I can even begin to imagine trying to show them the transmission issue. Every time I just get oh its operating normally or can't duplicate the issue.

Request to have the Service Manager ride in the vehicle with you and then point out the noise and the faulty shifting to him. There is no refuting it then by the technician or the service writer. I've done this successfully many times and the issue then gets resolved quickly.

Agree with the Above .. If they don't do something about it , gives you ammunition to work with if it does turn out to be a serious problem they didn't resolve .. Way Back I had a Coolant Light on my 1989 Chevy Truck took to the Dealer they said all was well .. Took a Road Trip and then my Engine overheated badly turned out to be a Blown Head Gasket with Oil and Coolant Mix , just showed them the Service Report from 2 days prior that this was certainly not my fault .. Got a brand new Engine that didn't cost a nickel ..

The car was in on Saturday to get some things fixed. The rear automatic lift gate doesn't work and the passenger side A pillar trim peice fell off. Got the car back and still the rear lift gate doesn't work and the trim peice is as bad as it was when I brought it in. When I went in to talk to the service manager she left for the day so I asked the person working there and she said the manager would call me first thing Monday. Of course no call.

So this is sort of why I don't want to bring up a complex issue such as the transmission. I am just going to take my business to another dealership and bring up my issues to them.

Take those issues directly to Chevrolet Customer Care. Get them involved...and then go to another dealership and let Customer Care know you are and why. Use the avenues available and donít let them off the hook. Corporate needs to know the have dealerships that are screwing up.

OP, just thank the lord you are on a lease with the vehicle. Do not buy it out when your lease is up. Next time if you want to own a reliable vehicle for 10years + your only option these days are toyota and maybe honda.

Yea I figured a lease would be best. I had a jeep compass before this which was 50x worse than this. I like this terrain. Just not a huge fan of the way the dealership is handling repairs.
