2010 GMC Terrain power/battery issues after engine replacement

We are having the worst luck with our 2010 GMC Terrian. The engine was completely replaced over the summer 2015 at 90,000 miles (under recall for the oil consumption problem) and shortly after that the service stabilitack message came on intermittently and ABS would turn off. Now, a couple months ago we started to get a "battery saver active" "service battery charging system". We replaced the battery and alternator and it seemed better for a few weeks and now the messages came back and the car will kick over and runs for 10-15 min and all the power goes out including power steering then the motor dies 10-15 more min after that. We are beyond frustrated...anyone have the same issues and found a resolution?

Re: 2010 GMC Terrain power/battery issues after engine replacement

There is a problem with the charging system. The computer controls the voltage and output of the alternator, and I would be willing to bet there is a problem with the wiring for the control circuit that controls the alternator. I have seen a pinched control wire for the alternator cause an intermittent loss of charging and cause the service charging system to display. I would look there first, then I would also do a charging system test to see if it is working properly and also load test the battery.

hello, hope this message finds you doing well. I was wondering if you ever found out what was causing your 2010 gmc terrain to give you the trouble you were having? I have a 2011 model when after replace the motor develop the same issues.
