AMAZED - i am

Happy New Year everyone - driving back home today Caddy SRX 2005 suddenly brakes itself ..shows ABS light on ....T/C control on....and slows down obviously under T/C pressure...cannot stop immediately drive another few miles ..try with N and switch off T/C button..no way...try with P ..no way..finally switch off the engine...pray God car starts again...ok ....starts...no more ABS lights..no more T/C lights on ...car goes on and TG drives family home !
Now wife says WTF did you change from Porsche to Cadillac ? Good question...i am stubborn...i like to dismantle the front spoiler to change a beamlight - love to dismantle back spoilers to find out why water does not run away and rotten my jack and tools but the heck what's wrong with these cars folk? is it battery ? e
the whole electric system is f...d up ? I am simply amazed...thought Cadillac was synonym of quality.....

I kind of feel the same way. Just bought my SRX in November. Got a decent deal because it's, relatively speaking, a gas guzzler. I guess I didn't do my research well enough to realize that a lot of the electronics are located close to the biggest source of water leaks and the two don't mix well. I fell a little cheated because for the past 20 years I have owned Subaru's which although they had sunroof's never leaked a drop and all of the electronics was sensibly located up under the dash. The old style Boxer ( Porsche knock-off) engine never used a drop of 'everyday' 10W30 oil between changes and everything else 'just worked'.
I had definitely not envisioned having my heart in my mouth every time I approached my car but so far, touch wood, I am only reading about these potential issues and hoping that the previous family who owned the car from new have had most of the problems dealt with. I do enjoy driving the SRX which is a lot more spacious and has a way more luxurious feel to it. My Subarus were all LL Bean or equivalent versions so 'top of the line' but still didn't have that real luxury feel that the SRX does. So my fingers are crossed

TG i have a garage where i can repair cars myself.....now fuse of right low beam keeps burning whenever i set a new one ( 20A) - engine compartment fuses box
Love the comfort too but car is very very thirsty and as said loaded with problems especially electric and waterproof related.Have already put it on sale again and it'll take me sometimes before buying another one as i have been very very disappointed under the engineering point of view of this particular model.

Hey Max & bbco, Happy New Year! Didn't you guys see the recent study by Consumer Reports or Motor Trend, etc? They tested 30 different cars, & Caddy came in LAST, Fiat was #29 ! Sad !

funny you mention Fiat.....i recently sold a Fiat Doblo and when complaining about the Caddy my wife reminded me the problems i had with that EGR valve-brakes-a.s.o. there also to put your hands in the engine compartment you need to dismantle the whole car.....at least i got my money back which i'm not sure i will with the SRX
With the gas prices increasing daily car market is shacky.

I am not sure what kind of credence one can give these studies ...when they claim that Audi is more reliable than Honda or Chevrolet

I place no credence whatsoever on magazine test drives or consumer magazine reviews. 30 years ago I owned an Audi which was basically trouble-free while under the 'everything covered, even wiper blades etc' 3 year 60,000 km warranty. Two weeks after the warranty expired things started to go wrong and it was a nightmare with almost daily electrical problems and finally culminating in the failure of the turbo which was last expensive straw.

Hi everyone,
hope your SRX's don't give you more problems than EU cars - indeed my Audi A4 RS has been the most expensive car i have ever owned -
Have now found out that most of my problems are due to the battery age....and Ah voltage : apparently the 2005 models should fit batteries between 90 and 100 Ah whilst 2006 models and up a regular 75 AHh its preconized.
Why 2005 models only ? I'd love to ask GM's specialists but my battery now is 74 Ah old and giving me all sorts of problems.
Have bought two adapters for EU batteries mounted a 95 Ah battery i had on a Carrera 996 et voila' les jeux sont faits ...seems another car...

Interesting...several people have commented that low batteries symptom is multiple CEL unrelated code being thrown etc..
