Many cars have a U-shaped curve. Some initial problems, followed by few problems until after the warranty ends.

We've updated our reliability stats for the Equinox to include owner experiences through September 30, 2013.

Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2013 Equinox: 19, low
2012 Equinox: 8, low
2011 Equinox: 40, moderate
2010 Equinox: 60, moderate
2008 Equinox: 39, low, very small sample size
2007 Equinox: 36, low, very small sample size
2006 Equinox: 102, high, small sample size
2005 Equinox: 59, low, very small sample size

We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds", to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop:

2012 Equinox: 96, 2
2011 Equinox: 77, 4
2010 Equinox: 54, 2

We'll have further updates in February and in May. The more owners participate, the more comprehensive and precise these will be.

Looks to me like the 2012 is the best year by far, makes me feel good having one.

Much of the difference between the 2012 and 2013 could be sampling error. The latter is also low, as indicated above. Both years seem much better than the earlier ones, at least so far.
