Starting the Vehicle with a Low
Transmitter Battery
When the vehicle is started, if the
transmitter battery is weak, the DIC
may display NO REMOTE
DETECTED or NO REMOTE KEY
WAS DETECTED PLACE KEY IN
TRANSMITTER POCKET THEN
START YOUR VEHICLE. The
REPLACE BATTERY IN REMOTE
KEY message may also be
displayed at this time.

I don't know.
On the old style remotes the battery would last many years.
We have similar keyless fobs for our motorcycles and I have heard the battery life on those is approx 3 years.

When you need to replace the battery it takes the very common and inexpensive CR2032 battery.

I keep a couple of the Energizer CR2032 in the glove box...they have a shelf life of 8 years or so. Although it is easy to start the car with a fob with a dead battery (put fob in cup holder)...i figure i should not have to worry too much of a dead fob.

i got a low battery in key fob warning at around 40k miles and just over 2 years of ownership. the message only appeared twice and then didn’t appear again but i changed the battery about 3 days later just to be safe. for $4 it’s a lot easier than having to get into the car with the emergency key

I’ve still got the original battery in my 2011 Nox remote. Just turned 9 years old!

Old style fobs with ignition key last a long time. New ''sensing'' fobs not as long as the old style, that's why the battery messages appear as those fobs use battery power all the time to transmit to vehicle unlike the old ones that only used battery power when you pushed a button.

It lasted for 2 years for both my primary and spare keyfob. I got a DIC message to replace my keyfob battery soon. Replacing the batteries is easy.
