wiper blades

This really isn't an Equinox specific question.......

Now that I hit the 1 year anniversary of my Equinox (8800 miles), The wiper blades are a little past their life, and need replaced. I started shopping around for wipers, but I think I can honestly say, I don't think I have ever paid much attention to one brand vs the other. They are all expensive in my mind. But I s'pose you can't put a price tag on visibility while in the rain. I do coat my windshield with a product from Griot's Garage, BUT, I need wipers regardless.

Do any of you pay much attention to brand, or is your decision primarily based off price?

What wiper blades do you swear by, and why?

I have purchased expensive wiper that left gaps and streaks on the windshield from the onset and have purchased cheap wipers that worked well and lasted a reasonable amount of time.

Price is generally the major consideration.

Curious to know what others do to prolong life of the wiper, especially in the winter time. All wipers are afflicted by the elements.

and that's exactly why I don't spend a lot on them. I feel they are no better than the next. It all comes down to brand name.
But for me to get a year out of the manufacturer blades, I couldn't ask for more. Just like tires, I hate buying wiper blades.

Anyone know what brand the manufacturer uses on the new cars?

I go back to the dealer and buy the AC Delco blades. It's the only thing I go to them for. You may say I'm crazy, but I'm getting 2+ years of streak-free service from these blades. They run about $32 buck for a set--$16 per year, or less. I've been doing this since 2006 and consistently get 2+ years, even in Texas sun that typically bakes the life out of everything else. I previously used Trico and other brands without being able to get more than 3-4 months service, and at a cost of around $12 per blade (not per set). My daughter used Rainex blades--that lasted a year. My experience has been great with the OEM blades! Just my experience; YMMV.

^^^^

I tend to stay OEM or Ac Delco even for non Gm applications , front , rear , cars , tractors , etc.

looks like GM uses several suppliers Globally - for their suppliers

Coincidentally, I was watching some You Tube videos a couple weeks ago and the Project Farm dude had a wiper blade comparison. I suppose it is debatable on the tests he performed but it gives a good comparison of the wiper performance relative to each other. If I recall, there was a Bosch and Michelin wiper that performed well. It was clear the cheap wipers should be avoided but the best performing blade wasn't necessarily the most expensive one.
I have been buying the ones at Costco (Michelin Stealth Hybrid) for years but recognize they are not the best and usually replace them every 1-2yrs. Usually get them when they go on sale for about $9 each.

Between work and home I drive 6 vehicles and the only one with decent wipers is the Equinox. All others make that really annoying chattering sound or leave areas unwiped, or occasionally leave nice arcs etched into the glass. What's worse, new wipers don't last much more than a year. I'm probably going to buy whatever Chevrolet put on the car at the factory.

I was looking at the Rock Auto site, and I see all the AC DELCO options.
There's quite a few, I'm liking the prices too
