2019 equinox shift knob removal

Hey all. I am trying to remove the shift knob on my 2019 equinox. So far I have all the plastic pieces around it off, but I cant seem to get the shift knob off. Any ideas?

On the 2017 Cruze all you had to do was pull straight up on it. Don't know if this will help you but maybe give it a try.

I tried to pull up on it and had no luck, maybe I need to pull harder. I know it comes off because they are sold at the dealer and on ebay not attached to the shifter assembly.

I don't know if this will help, but on some prior GM vehicles that we've owned there was a small U shaped retaining clip at the base of the knob, on the dashboard side. Using a small screwdriver you could pry the retaining clip out and pull up on the knob.

The boot around the shifter on the wife's '13 Cadillac ATS seems to be integrated into the knob, so that's no help. Nor are the buttons/levers for my '18 Terrain gear selection.

A detailed parts diagram breakdown would help. Maybe the local Chevy dealer would be kind enough to tell you how to remove that part. A parts breakdown on GM parts on line was no help.

Thank you so much!! I figured it was a press fit. My only question is before I pull it off, what is the transmission control lever knob retaine? It says to remove that before I use force to remove the knob.
