Replaced USP Port in 2013 Equinox

Hi everyone,

Much to my dismay, my significant other yanked my i-pod out out of the usb jack yesterday (she didn't like the music playing) breaking the little metal thing inside the usb port and rendering it useless. I found what looks like a replacement for relatively inexpensive on amazon (https://www.amazon.com/Genuine-Equin.../dp/B00MEJ5S48), however I am unsure how to go about replacing the actual jack. Not sure if you can pinch the sides and it removes or you have to remove the whole middle console? I haven't been able to find any videos ether that show how to either so any help would be greatly recommended. I'd like to avoid having to go to the dealer if possible. Thanks kindly, Derek

Have you tried extracting that metal piece from the USB port with a small pair of needle-nose pliers?

Thanks. I don't think that would work though because if you extract the metal piece, there will be nothing to hold in the USB cable and it wouldn't likely work, so it needs to be replaced. Thanks.

This is pretty easy to remove. It pry's out. Get a screw driver on the top between the console and the USB and wiggle a bit. There are two tabs that hold it in on the top and bottom center. There should actually be a little notch where you can get the screw driver in to release the clip. Once you have the old one out, disconnect the two wires, then plug the new one back in.

See this one for picture of the tabs, and the first picture you can see the notch on the bottom. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Center-Cons...S/223440681535

This is a different version, but you can see the notch and clips better: https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Center-...n/163154807062
