Thumbs up First oil change today

I was very happy to find filter and oil plug locations are user friendly on the 2.0 19 NOX, nicely done GM!

I did find it took almost 6.5 quarts to bring the oil level to top of the full mark on the stick...? Anyone else notice this?

TIA

Greg

There is a thread about oil capacities and it is in the manual.
The 2.0 with AWD takes 6 quarts by design ...you overfilled by 0.5 quarts may be

Question

Yup I read the manual and after I was complete added the additional 1/2 qt to bring the oil level back up to the same spot on the oil stick it was before I changed it...I thought that was kinda weird?

My 07 Caddy runs with the oil level in the middle of the full add marks on the stick, but this 2.0 was operating at the full mark before the change today so...

Thanks for the reply & links

Greg

Are you going to do your own maintenance? We do get one maintenance visit and inspection with the purchase.

What filter was originally installed on your 2.0. PF64 or UPF 64R

At what mileage did you choose to change your oil?

I'm at 2400 miles on my original fill, and am trying to decide when I should change it. On prior vehicles I changed at 1500 miles, but on the wife's Malibu I didn't do it until 5000 miles.

I'm trying to decide if I want to let the dealer do the first service, save it for later, or never let them touch it, as I normally do all of the service on my vehicles.

Hello

I won't be bringing mine back to the dealer unless there is a recall or an OEM failure. Yes we also have the free oil change offer, I'm disgruntled with my dealer as they gave me a screwing on the interest rate on my loan. Don't much matter cause I'll be paying mine off in full on the 1st installment. They can F off. I will not be back to the place I purchased mine ever again.

Mine has 2500 miles on it and I would have changed it sooner but the sub zero weather here pushed it off till today.

Pretty sure it had PF64 filter, the AC PF64 is what went back on it. I will dump it again at 5k than I'll be doing it every 5k after.

My dealer kinda slipped a higher interest on me also, as to get a certain percent off of MSRP it had to be financed through GM.

I intended to pay it off anyway and had to make the three payments to qualify for the discount. I paid all but a few dollars on the second payment, and paid the balance on the third payment.

My credit score should have earned me a lower interest rate for the loan, but being sly like most dealer finance managers are, the rate was never brought up nor did I ask what it was going to be: But I never was too concerned about the rate as it was essentially paid off with the second payment.

I also disregard the OLM, and change oil at 5,000 miles as you do. My choice of oil is Mobil1 Ext. Perf. 5W-30. I use this in all four of my Chevy's as seen in my signature below.

Maybe bad information from your dealer. I paid my GM loan off on the first payment and still got the discount without a penalty.

I don't trust anything I hear at a dealership, and am skeptical of things they present in writing. Their prime business is to get as much from your wallet as possible; ethics and legality are stumbling blocks they work around.

Paid mine off after one payment as well with no penalty. They said up front to get the discount the interest rate would be really high. Even they advised to either pay it off or refinance after making a payment. If you really wanted to stick it to the dealer you would let them do the service or find another dealer.

Don't feel bad about the interest rate. They did the same thing to me, the only difference is I noticed it, made a comment about it. I signed the loan at a higher interest rate to get the rebate. I put down a decent downpayment and have really good credit but still got a crappy interest rate. However, I was already pre-approved with my credit union with a good rate so I'm going to make two payments and refinance. I'm not worried about it, they will not be getting me.

I had a salesman tell me point blank, "They will tell you that you have to make four payments but you only have to make two."......ha, it sounds like some of you only made ONE, wow.
