start/stop override

I have a 2018 2.0 turbo with the annoying Start/stop feature. I live in NYC with lots of traffic jams, and the feature is a nuisance. I have read in this forum about putting the shift into L and clicking up to the 9th gear. However, the engine sounds like it wants to shift into another gear and seems to be pulling while using the L9. Is it ok to make use of this override? The dealer told me it isn't a good idea to do that all the time. Please advise. Thanks.

I do it all the time without any ill effects. I had a discussion Monday with a Service Writer at my dealership (having a CEL associated with the DC converter which is somehow linked to the start/stop feature) and he mentioned that they get a significant number of complaints regarding the intrusive nature of the feature. I mentioned that I shift into "L" and then run the range to 9; he indicated that is an acceptable method of over-riding. Also, the owners manual states that is an acceptable method of configuring the transmission when towing--and the owners manual has no notes, cautions, warnings, etc regarding employing that method of use.

Check out the website I bought and installed one of their modules on my 2018 Equinox a month ago, and it works great. Easy to install, easy to remove before you take it in for dealer service (just so they don't raise a question about it). It takes less time to install then it takes to read the directions.
