Wow, thats a great article you found. Pretty detailed.
Basically the Mexican plants is what is keeping GM alive right now. If the Equinox was built soley at Ingersoll the strike would be solved by now. As inventories would be 0 without the Mexican plant by now.
What I find weird though, last year in November the big 3s contracts were up, GM(Oshawa) and the Union went to the deadline, but they eventually got a deal done and no strike happend. The Union got a pretty good deal, they somehow got the Chevy Silverado. But GM was in no rush to make that deal b/c the Oshawa plant makes slow selling Sedans(Impala, Cadddy ATS, and the Buick Regal)
I was looking at the 18 Equinox (Premier) at the dealership today while having a oil change and filter. They did a TSB to check if a cotter pin was missing on the steering arm 2017.
Anyway the silver center post sticker said Mexico ! I asked the manager and he said they have moved production of the Equinox to Mexico.
I liked what I saw with the 2018 except for the roof racks. Made me think of a Moose going down the road. They put a back seat release in reach of the hatch door and it worked really good. The seats now lay flat on the floor (nice). But the room for cargo seemed really small. I did like the front and side view cameras too. The trailer hitch now has a special cover and does not show when the ball receiver is out. (nice).
