Bugs and Enhancements

The following are on I-Phone 6 running iOS 11.0:

1.) Just tried to edit a post I had just successfully submitted and TWO times it failed to show the edits immediately after the SEND. Had to exit out and come back in to see the changes. Is that new behavior?

2.) Scrolling through posts is fine until some “inflection point” is reached and it jumps either forward or backward several posts. And then you try to get back to where you were and it happens *again*!! This was happening with previous version of iOS, too.

3.) Everytime I log in on the mobile app it says I have “64 new messages” - even though I’ve viewed/cleared them online.

4.) About 50% of the time, when I connect via the mobile app, I find I am already logged in - even though I *know* I logged out previously.

5.) Can you view signatures and “likes” on a mobile app?

To answer 1 & 3 - have you cleared your cache/cookies and refreshed your page?

2 - when the page jumps, do you notice if it jumps to an ad/video ad?

4 - if you don't want to be automatically logged in, be sure to check your browser setting to have it not save cookies (your login details) and uncheck the box where it says 'remember me'

5 - not on the mobile 'enhanced' version, you'll have to exit this and go to the 'full' site to see signatures and likes (see screenshots below)

This is how it looks on the enhanced version:

e1.JPG

Go to the top, left hand corner where the 3 horizontal lines are (menu) and selecting the last option "Exit enhanced mobile view":

e2.JPG

A prompt appears, asking Are you sure? (select yes). You are then redirected to a different page which you'll need to scroll all the way down and tap on 'Full Version' (button to the left side). Now, you are on the full version and when you go in a thread, you will see users signatures and likes:

Hope that helps. Let us know if you need further assistance.

Cheers,
Nate

1 and 3.) Cleared my cache and it wiped out all my shortcuts on Safari desktop (no big deal). Seemed to have fixed some stuff ... like the "64 Messages" blue banner, but then that came back again.

2.) The "inflection" jumping as I scroll seems to be better now. It jumps on the page boundaries, but before it was skipping WAY ahead (or backward), and now it seems to be better (I think).

4.) Auto-log-in still happening even though I don't *think* I have any "Remember Me" selected on the Mobile app (enhanced). I tried killing the cookies on Safari, but then the app never connected to the site. It just hung with a blank screen forever until I re-enabled cookies. This *never* happens on the desktop web app. Just on the Mobile. And it doesn't happen *all* the time; only about 50-60% of the time.

5.) Tried the "Full Site" on the I-Phone and I could see the "likes" and "signatures", but I had to tap "Full Version" twice for some reason. First time it seemed to go to full version, and I logged in. But then once inside a thread, couldn't see the "likes" and "signatures", so tapped "Full Version" again, and they appeared. Logged out, logged back in, and same thing - had to tap it twice. Is that just the way it is?

6.) NEW: When someone attaches Thumbnail pictures, I click on it to expand, but there is no exit button at top right, so I hit the BACK button. Sometimes this works properly by taking me back to the thread with the thumbnails, but other times it kicks me out of the thread completely. I'd say this happens 50% of the time! This is on a desktop running Google Chrome Version 62.0.3202.94

That's odd, the 64 messages blue banner going away after clearing your cache/cookies but came back still. And the auto-login? This only happens like half the times on your mobile (enhanced) version but not on the full site. Are you able to try on a different browser to see if these issues persist?

As for 5. yes, this is the way it is - the need to tap twice to go to the full desktop version.

6. Can you take a screenshot of how it looks when you expand on a thumbnail?

Cheers,
Nate

I haven't used the full site much yet, but so far I haven't seen the Auto-Login bug happen there ... just with the mobile enhanced, where it happens at least 50% of the time. Safari is the only browser I have on this phone (it's an employer-issued phone), but I might be able to load another browser (this company's IT department likes to lock things down quite a bit).

Here's a screenshot from digital-audiophile's recent "gremlins" thread. As you can see - no "exit" button. I've tried clicking all over the screen just in case it was hidden, but no luck. So whether I use the Chrome back button or right-click and select BACK, it kicks me out of the thread at least 50% of the time.

Yeah , that's the thing with some phones.... especially iPhone.

They probably build the bugs right in to get you to *upgrade* to the newest phone!
You know, give your phine carrier a call and they will jack up right up to the "latest and greatest"!

Tell you that it isn't working right because you haven't *upgraded*.

Then again, it seems Apple stuff is more *finnicky*. Same thing on two other car forums I frequent. Always problem with Apple iPhone.

My Moto G4 works fine with all mobile sight software so far.

I do see what you're saying about there not being a way to "X" out of the thumbnail (needing to use the back button), but I was not able to re-create where it kicks you out of the thread (I tried on Safari, Firefox and on Chrome). What I did experience was occasional Lightbox lag (black screen) when using Safari but was never forced out of the thread. Have you experienced the Lightbox issue, or you get kicked out of the thread completely?

No Lightbox, just kicks me out of the thread about 50% of the time.

I tested on an iPhone/Safari with this thread, looking at that image which would open in lightbox (black background) and it shows the X at the top right corner which would lead me back to the thread. Employer issued phones tend to have some restrictions when it comes to browsing on the internet.

When you say you use Chrome and the back button, what device is this on if not on your iPhone? If you are on a computer, does pressing the ESC button bring you back to the thread or still kicks you out of it?

Cheers,
Nate

Yeah - I don't have a problem on my I-Phone with *this* particular issue. It's on the desktop using Chrome where I have the problem. On the I-Phone, it actually works the same way (no "X" to close the thumbnail), but there - I can turn the phone sideways, shrink the picture, and *then* I have two shrunken windows on the screen simultaneously - one showing the open thread, and the other the thumbnail ... and *both* have and "X" in the window frame in the top left corner (which I can use to close the thumbnail).

But on the desktop, running Chrome, there is no such "X" to close the picture. I just went back to the "Gremlins" thread again, which is two pages - with the thumbnail on the first page. When I used the BACK button to exit the thumbnail, it put me back on page TWO several times (instead of page 1)! It's just random where it returns to.
