HI!
Yes im fine. Thank you for asking.

Im in Los Angeles.
I was doing yardwork- so didnt feel the 1st 6.x quake.

I was sitting down for the 7.1, so I felt that one.
At my location, it was more of a rolling/circular pattern- so everything in the house swayed- hanging lamps, blinds, etc were rocking back and forth

We were far enough away that it was more of a rolling feeling.... the closer you are- thats when you get shaking.
The moment I felt how much we were swaying--- at my location-- I KNEW... this one was stronger than the original quake-- which turned out to be a Foreshock.

I don't know how you guys in California can take it. We don't get many quakes where I am it, just south east of Detroit, but when we do, I don't like the feeling. Ours are nothing like yours as well, I think we max out around 4 on the scale.

Glad to hear @rbarrios and family is fine.
Only earth shake I ever felt was while up in Alaska. I awoke one morning in my barracks room to the sound of "buzzing" and my bed shaking back and forth length wise.

The buzzing was an open metal locker door up against a bed rail and vibrating from the quake. We had a couple after shocks later that day. There was one more while I was up there while at work in the comm center. Not really bad. . back and forth kind of rolling.

Don't really care for them. I'll take the colder winter here where we live now, some snow, and cheaper gasoline, insurance and real estate prices. And monthly gas/electric run anywhere from $110 to $260 depending on time of year, weather, etc. This is for 1,760 sq. ft. not counting the lower level which we also partially use.

We visited friends in San Diego some years ago. Nice area. . . nice country. . . liked the vineyards north.
Friends say to visit them any time.

RB glad you and your family are OK. My daughter lives in Yorba Linda and they just felt what you did, just some mild shaking.

I'm in north San Diego County, and didn't feel either one of the strong quakes near Ridgecrest.

The scariest quake that I experienced was the 6.5 quake in Sylmar CA in 1971, similar to the 6.4 quake in Ridgecrest which turned out to be a foreshock to the 7.1 quake. I lived about 8 miles from the epicenter. It woke me up to everything in my bedroom swaying back and forth, even my bed. Every horizontal surface, except for my bed, got cleared off. Once the shaking stopped, I walked through the minefield in my bedroom to check on my mom and younger sister, who were okay. Initially we couldn't find my sister's dog. Finally found it inside a lower cabinet. The door must have opened, the dog walked in to take shelter, and the door closed.

Yorba Linda? I hope the earthquake didn’t “break in” to the Richard Nixon Presidential Library!!

Ah, I remember seeing photos of the damage at the HVDC terminal station in Sylmar, while I was working for HVDC at GE at the time. Devastating !

Geez, I must be young..... Sylmar 71..... I would not be born for another 2 years.

The quake I really remember was the 5.9 Whittier Narrows Quake in 1987.

Was at my high school campus- 7:42 am. Doing our Jr ROTC drills.
Our school is about 2 miles from the base of the San Gabriel Mountains.... I clearly remember looking towards the mountains and seeing dust clouds begin to rise.... landslides.
