2019 Equinox Deals .. . till April 30th. Up to $8K Off .

Well, ads have been running on TV lately and also keep getting emails. These "deals" are area dependent, but right now they are showing up to $8K off MSRP.

So, I looked up a few area dealers. I came across a few that were "interesting".
I liked the ones that were 2019 FWD Equinox Premier 1.5L models with the 1LZ and Convenience II package.
An Example:

MSRP $32,295

Upfront Price $26,597
Price with GM Financing $25,961
Additional $1,615 off Conquest Cash
Plus there is supposed to be a "Loyalty" Cash incentive of $1,500 for current GM owners, but it's not crystal clear about what offers stack. Like GM Employee pricing.
But from what I have gleaned from the dealer website,

I might be able to get the above Equinox for $24,765 plus tax and fees. That would be $7,530 off MSRP.

Or about 24.24% off MSRP.

But not really in the market and like our 2015. Not sure about the seat comfort and we have both Driver and Passenger 8-way Power Seats (and more). The 2019 Equinox Premier only has an 8-way Driver Seat and 4 way MANUAL Front Passenger seat. And not sure about the 1.5L.

2015 Equinox LTZ 3.6L FWD Champagne Silver Metallic *Build Date 1-08-2015 * *34,465 miles 3-11-2019

personnally would enjoy the 3.6 a little more.
Its trouble free.

The 1.5L- and 2019 model- still have potential issues to be worked out.... you know gremlins.

Agreed. Wife just keeps seeing a few at work who have a 2018-19 Equinox.
I would rather wait at least a few more years. And we already sat in the 2018 Equinox and seats seem more narrow. They were cloth so not sure about the leather ones.

I think sales are dropping off across the board on many brands and models.

I am prone to watch how the new Blazer does. I am thinking it is priced too close to the Traverse. So in 2 years or so, there may be some "Blazing" deals to move them out. I like that it has the newer V6 like my Colorado. And I think it's got the new 9 speed transmission.

I've been considering the Equinox again lately (after taking a long look at the Acadia, and even starting to look at some Blazers that have been showing up on dealer lots).

I like the Blazer, but there are no good deals so far, and it's the dreaded 'first year of production'. Probably another year before anything shakes out there (not that I can't wait).

Then, with the Acadia - I've found decent deals, but 'do I really want that vehicle?'. I don't know that I do.

The Equinox is actually the right-size vehicle for me (now). The fuel economy is very attractive. But that tiny engine with the turbo are what give me pause there. Will it hold up driving it my requisite 222,222 miles? Will I be tearing into the engine by the 7th or 8th year to replace that turbo? If it *didn't* have the turbo I'd probably feel better about it. After all, my '89 Mitsubishi had a 1.5L FI engine and went 250,000+ miles.

Just no clear-cut choice for me this time around.

Maybe the choice will be to just keep driving my entire "lineup" of vehicles until they all hit 300,000 miles (LOL!)

Say Colt, I know you don't mind driving long distances for a deal, check out www.parksbuickGMC.com for their pricing on the Acadias between 9K - 12K off. They’re in Greembille just off I-85.

Latest Motor Trend has a comparo article on mid size pickups, Colorado won out. Yep, Motor Trend. Not Honda, not Toyota. Colorado! Couldn't believe it.

Yeah, he’s advertising some decent deals but the Window Stickers don’t come up. I’ve seen that movie before: “ah, sorry ... that one’s already sold, but here’s a lesser trim unit for more money”.

What it comes down to is: I know *exactly* what I should be paying if I’m buying an Acadia, and until I see that price - I’m not buying.

I check in periodically on all the units I’ve located. Saw one the other day (an ‘18 leftover) marked down $16,000 (to $21,600 ... an SLE-2)!!! Obviously a mistake (deliberate or not). Emailed the dealership. The guy said, “yeah, that’s a real price”, but when I re-checked it online the price had been bumped up $5,000. Looked like they deducted a $5k discount twice.

I think dealerships do this to see how many people have online “watches” on their units (or just to get people to respond). And then you have to actually be *on the lot* at that time to cash in on the “deal”.

Not happening.

Just saw the commercial for the Equinox 'deals', and checked online, too, to verify. It's only the $8k off (of a high-end "Premier") if you own a 2005 or newer non-GM vehicle for at least 30 days.

Good luck getting 20% off during the same model year (ie: a '19 in 2019). Those discounts typically start in the *next* calendar year (as leftovers). They'll nickel and dime you with every caveat they can to get you down to around 15% off (or lower, if they can) during the current model year.

Yeah, they've *advertised* it ... but as you well know - advertising and getting a deal on paper are two totally different things.

They want you to *think* you can get that deal ... without actually *giving* you that deal.
