2020 Acadia

Looking for our next vehicle, see the next gen Acadia coming soon. Looking at pictures of the interior and see the one of the things I really don't like on our Terrains. The external audio and power connections are buried at the bottom of storage compartments. That doesn't make any sense to me at all. We do use those plug-ins and have to pull out the junk to get to them. I'd bet Honda doesn't do this? Wish I had Tahoe money......

Can't you just add an "extension cord" to the USB ports instead of spending money for a new vehicle. Reminds me of the days when people would trade in their vehicles when the ash-trays were full. LOL

This makes me chuckle! For years I was using the plugs buried in my Nox armrest console until one day, not too long ago, I discovered the one in the front pocket under the radio cluster! Never saw that quarter-sized black cap covering the cigarette lighter socket back there! I guess I should’ve read the Owner’s Manual, right?

So the Acadia doesn’t have this front socket

See if I can post a picture:

Kind of hard to see the sockets under the radio in the back of the storage bin. Handy little well for stuff, not for connecting. Get them out of there and up on the main stack I'm thinking.

Looks like the same location as my 2018 Equinox and it works well for me.
I don't store stuff there because that's the location of the wireless phone charger.

Usb connections in the center arm rest on terrains can be used for external connections also. And if its compatible device it will show up as a USB device to the system or a phone. Its has place to run the cable outside the armrest too. I use this when I want to use my phone with android auto and just put it in the phone charger slot. I also use the other one for my USB drive that has my personal music on it. So the front ones are open for someone who needs them and not normally in my vehicle.

I use the ports in the arm rest as well. Really never thought much of it, I'm not a hoarder and keep my vehicle pretty tidy.

The 2017 to 2019 Acadia have a front auxiliary power socket in the center stack well and 2 USB ports. I use that lower center stack "cubby" for our Garmin which fits nicely into the forward part of that well and still allows access to the USB port.
I also use a short 1 to 2 auxiliary power port adapter so that i can have power both to the Garmin and a dash cam power wire which I tuck into the side of the forward console, under the glove box and conceal all along the way up the A pillar across the top of the passenger side head liner and over to the "dash cam" which sits behind the left side of the rear view mirror.
All other items are stored in the glove box, center console, or rear storage bin on the lower rear of the center console. That rear center console storage bin is good for items seldom needed, but I can and have reached back there to slide it open if need be.

The only thing I want to get is an upper tray for the center console for small items.

Reminds me of the one USB port in my 2011 Acadia...under the trap door on top of the dash, towards the rear of the compartment so it was unseeable, and no cord exit slot. So you either left the door open (great for forward visibility), or got your shizzle melted by putting it inside and closing the hatch.
