What is the GM supplier discount worth?

A friend who sells Chevies told me it should be worth $1K-$2K depending upon the model car you buy. Another friend just bought a Nox and I think he said the dealer gave him $1500 off because of working for a supplier to GM. The company I work for is a supplier to GM on a world-wide basis so I'm working on getting us signed up. Anyone know if you can combine the supplier discount in addition to a credit union discount? Kind of doubt it.

Yea, spoke to my friend yesterday and he said you can't combine the two. His suggestion was join a credit union so I can bargain with the dealer over the interest rate of the loan. Said a common thing the dealer does is hook you up with an inflated interest rate if you are getting a lot of other discounts. Said show them the rate you can get at the credit union and you will be surprised at how fast they can find a matching loan rate or one a quarter point lower. I will probably buy a Terrain through my friend. He works at a Chevy dealer but they own a GM dealer 25 miles away and he can go with me to the GM dealer, do the paperwork and he'll get credit for the sale and I won't have to worry about getting a good deal.

Not sure about the credit union, but I did combine the Supplier Discount with the Loyalty Rebate discount.

In Q4 2010, the Supplier discount was $1044 for me. That ended up being a little over 3% of the sticker. The Loyalty rebate was only $500 at the time. Of course, it increased to $1000 the week after I bought my car.

Here is the link to the purchase prices:

If you look through there, you will get an idea of what people have been able to do.

I think the GM supplier discount price is about $700-$900 over dealer invoice. Some can haggle better price than this.

Good post !!

You don't need an employee password to use most of the functions at GM Family First

https://www.gmfamilyfirst.com/ip-gmemployee/#

Many dealerships will extend you Supplier Price (now called preferred pricing) without a certificate
GM employee's get 1 cert per month and can forward that cert to anyone
You should however use the link and know your pricing before going to the dealer and ask them to extend that pricing to you.
Finally...Loyalty and this pricing CAN be combined

Re: What is the GM supplier discount worth?

I got pre-approved for a auto loan at the Credit Union before even talking to the dealer.

As it was, with the CU pricing, the loyalty credit, and the good price they gave me on my trade-in,
I didn't need to get a loan.

The loan interest will always be higher than the interest you get on your savings account anyway, so I just
raided that instead.
