Wireless key Decided to Act Up

Last night as I’m getting into my car I push the button on my door handle to unlock and nothing happens. Think that’s weird, pull out the fob and unlock using that.

Get inside, close door, push the break and start button and nothing. Eventually a message pops up on the DIC saying key fob not present with a picture of where to place the fob. I recall that it means the cup holder, though you wouldn’t know it to look at it.

No idea what caused this, it’s not like I had a magnet in my pocket, and there were no previous messages about a low battery in the fob. After getting home, I parked and turned off the car and went inside. Came back out maybe 2 minutes later and started like normal.

Moral of the story, if your key doesn’t work, place it in the cup holder, and through magic maybe it will again! Not a fun technology gremlin...

I would change the fob battery, it may be getting weak as it is always transmitting. Battery may not be low enough yet to trigger the low battery message.

Some suffer from insanity, I choose to enjoy it
