2018 Terrain Denali - No Start

1 yr old, 2018 Terrain Denali 10K miles. Wife goes out last night on a snack run, maybe 5 -10 minutes each way. No apparent issue when she pulled into the garage and shut the car off. Next day get in the car at 12:45, push the START button and nothing, DIC msgs, Low Battery, Side Avoidance not Active (or something to that effect).

Was able to contact OnStar after several tries. GM Roadside Assistance Calls me and asks if I want a tow to the dealership or a jump. Of course I say jump it first, thinking if that doesn't work they can always tow it in. WRONG they sent out 'Jack Rabbit USA' which is a guy in a car with jump start equipment. Tried putting the smaller unit on to jump it, nothing. Put the larger unit on and it started.

Took it to the dealer, had it for an hour then comes out and says GM says they need to do some sort of battery test that takes 178 minutes and they were closing in an hour, will call me tomorrow with results.

Has anyone else have this issue? Hope like heck it's not a parasitic draw.

Wife did say she drove though some heavy rain and high standing water about 2 months ago, CEL came on but went off. she feels the car is running rough, had a ride along with tech. Nothing found to be bad.

That's better than having an electrical issue that defies diagnosis, and the could not duplicate rhetoric that accompanies it!

It happens. . . wonder if the "Stop/Start" had anything to do with wearing the battery so soon?

No kidding, I was dreading it having a draw that they couldnít find. Canít be without a car especially now with me having heart issues. Must have died this morning because they called us around 9 and told us it was ready., so they didnít run the 178 minute test. Battery tested out at 0 CCA out of 660 CCA

JayTee, I donít think the Start/Stop was an issue just because itís been on other models for awhile now. Like one of my IBM CE said when I asked him how could one of our big disk drives failed. He said Stuff happens.

2nd UPDATE. Wife was coming home from shopping and the CEL come on. Took it to the dealer, service writer checked the code, BCM lost communication with battery something or other. Found that they forgot to plug in a wire when they changed out the battery. Not having a warm fuzzy feeling with the dealership techs, only go to them for oil changes and tire issues.

sc, I'm so sorry for the aggravation you've had to suffer, but I'd gotta ask, if your dealership can't do a simple battery swap out without screwing up do you really trust your engine (oil changes) or your life (tire issues) to this particular dealership? I live in the low country of SC where I have several Chevy dealerships to choose from and I appreciate that's probably not your case. Also, I'm 70 yrs old now, arthritic issues are limiting my DIY work, so I know the feeling of nuts in a vise when it comes to trusting your vehicle to others.

garagerog, Iíve bought 3 cars from them and have always felt comfortable with their service dept, doing the oil changes. Tire issues are mainly checking and filling with air. Thereís been a change in the service dept. management which seems to me they are now pushing upselling services. We do have another strictly Chevy dealer about 10 miles from us, thatís where we bought our first 2 cars and we do like them, plus we have a BUICK/GMC and a CHEVY/CADILLAC dealers in Greenville about 25 miles from us. Now that our free oil changes are over Iíll start going over to the Chevy dealer in the next town
Like you, Iím also 70+ and have some major health issues, but unlike you I was never a car guy, all the guys I grew up in Chicago werenít either. Donít know why just werenít.
