Hi, Is it possible to change the roof antenna, because if I go to the car wash the dryer hit the antenna and if I go to an indoor parking ( shopping center) the antenna hit the pipes on the sealing.
I know the Silverado have a small antenna.
Thanks

From what I have read on other forums, the antenna sticking up out of the "shark fin" is used for FM and is not really that effective. I keep meaning to remove the "whip" portion and compare reception. The antenna just unthreads from the base. I have been removing my truck antenna for years when I enter or know Iím going to be entering a low ceiling area.

PS to antenna problem.  At home I had to adjust the door to travel further up the track to get it horizontal. If we pull in centered on the door, the bracket in the center of door hits the antenna. Solution, we park a few inches off of center. (That's what the sun roof is for).

"SHARK FIN" being a generic term for the stock antenna base shape. Don't read into subject matter that which is not contained. If there is an antenna called Shark Fin I apologize. By the way, fm reception today was no differrent without the whip. Open highway in Ohio River Valley.

I received my custom (Merlot Red) Shark Fin II antenna yesterday.
I installed it per the enclosed instructions from Visualgarage.com and it looks great and performs well!
I'll post some pictures soon.
Right now the weather is pretty crappy here in NE OH, snowing.

Here it is December 11th and a balmy 40 degrees!
Attached are the pics of my Mark II Shark Fin Antenna.
It works as well as the Terrain's OEM antenna!

Which part# did you order?
On the website they don't have the Chevy Equinox in the pull down menu for a part to select.
I'd like to get one.

I got mine from Visualgarage, I didn't have a chance to install it yet.
It looks real nice, if you want a picture of it not installed let me know.

I sent Visualgarage an email about the antenna for my 2010 Terrain, this is the emailI received from them:

Our pre-released Mark II VG shark fin antenna is compatible with your 2010 GMC Terrain.  For more information, pictures and how to order, please see the email below.

Regards,

Arthur

---------------------------------------

This new shark fin antenna was developed specifically for vehicles that have an AM/FM rear-roof whip antenna and a Sirius/XM/OnStar/GPS chip-set antenna integrated into the larger antenna base. Our Mark II antenna will allow you to replace the whip portion of your AM/FM antenna and cover the entire large antenna base on your roof to give it a clean look.  Installing this antenna will not hinder the operation of your Sirius/XM/OnStar/GPS chip-set antennas that are integrated into your antenna base. Please click the following links for some sample pictures of our new shark fin antenna:

http://www.visualgarage.com/Product_VG_SFA_MKII.html

We are happy to announce that we can continue to offer our Mark II version at the same price as our Mark I version, currently priced at $69USD (including painting to your OEM color as usual), plus shipping/handling for $12USD to USA/Canada or $28USD to International locations (including tracking number & insurance).

To place an order, please send an email to prerelease@visualgarage.com and provide the information below, and a Paypal invoice for ordering will be sent to you shortly afterwards . You will be able to pay via Paypal account, eCheck and most major credit cards. To find your color code, please visit this page: http://www.visualgarage.com/Product_Paint_Code.html

I also ordered the "Shark Fin" cover for my 2010 Terrain.  If you contact them by email, they will come up with a color match.  Only took about a week after contacting them with color code.  Perfect color match, great fit, seems to be same FM distance, and looks much better.

I have had mine installed since September and the reception is the same as stock. Since removing my roof rails, I think it looks even better. Great customer support from the Virtual Garage guys out in BC too.

I ordered the Shark Fin Antenna yesterday.

Simply emailed with all the information as per the above post and they promptly sent me a paypal invoice and replied emmediately after payment with a confirmation of 2-3 wks for delivery. They are located in BC as well so no extra customs charges on top of shipping or anything like that.

I have had my Sharkfin from Visualgarage on my 2012 Terrain in Blue for over 6 months now and I LOVE how it looks compared to the OEM antenna. I have roof rails, but I especially think that it looks clean in models without the roof rails. The only downside that I have had is that the FM reception is slightly worse than the OEM antenna. I live near the beach and the signal is low already, so you might find that some stations are harder to tune to with the shark fin. Overall though, it was a great investment and I really like it.

I just got a fin for my birthday. Thanks for all the pics on this thread. It looks great. I live in upstate NY so I gotta wait for the weather to improve before I can put it on.
