2013 GMC Terrain not blowing any air out of front vents

So today my wife's terrain decided to stop blowing air out of the front 4 vents. All the air comes out of the defrost vents but none comes out of the front. And you can adjust how much air and the temperature as well still. I tried searching related topics but every case seemed to be slightly different. We bought this car used less than a year ago from a local Chevy dealer but I would bet that this is not covered and they have a 115 dollar diagnostic fee.

Any tips on what I can do? I read that disconnecting the negative cable on the battery could reset some stuff so I am going to try that first till I get some replies.

Edit: It ONLY comes out of the defrost, none will come out of the front vents or the foot vents.

My guess would be a Blend Door Actuator issue. Not very expensive, nor that hard to replace. Check out this video, and also do some Searches on the Forum.

Now I am a bit naive when it comes to car parts but isn't the blend door actuator associated with hot/cold control? I can adjust the AC/heat no problem, it's just not coming out of the front vents or the floor, it only comes out of thr defrost vents. Which sounds like an actuator, I just don't know which one

Depends on whether it is blending the temperature or the up/middle/down positions. I guess you should try the search on the forum - I never had this issue and am just regurgitation what I thought I read. I could very well be wrong !

Did you try the YouTube I sent ?

I did, which then led me to this thread which is the EXACT issue I'm having and step by step pictures on how to fix it:

Just hoping that if I do all of this it actually fixes the problem

@ Rit : - - -Not the Blend door in this case.. .. . That is a *HoT* *ColD* issue

This would be the Mode Door.. . . which sits ABOVE the Blend door and directs air to the front center facing vents and/or the Defrost....

The actuator (motor for that is on the left side of the center stack just below the radio. You may be able to take off the center stack kick panel on the driver side near the gas pedal to see if the actuator is moving or makes any noise.

Here is a disassembled dash . . . you do not have to take it down this far. The outlined box it the Mode Door Actuator. IT can be removed from near the driver side center stack kick panel or take the radio out and it may be easier.

This shows one way to access the Mode Door: http://www.terrainforum.net/index.php?topic=8153.0

Re: 2013 GMC Terrain not blowing any air out of front vents

So the part came today. I ordered the mode door actuator for a 2013 gmc terrain. Now, the connection on the unit that was in the car compared to the one I received is completely different. The old unit's connection port is larger and a 6 prong male connector. The new unit is a 5 prong, much larger male connector with a small port.... So now I have no clue what to do
