2014 'Nox Surging high idle.

I have a 2014 Equinox 2LT with just over 42,000 miles. 2.4L AWD.

When I start it in the morning (or any other time it has to go into "high idle") It skips. You can't really feel it, but you can defiantly hear it. - As soon as it comes off high idle, it goes away instantly. It has done this for the whole 6 months I've owned the car. It never runs bad otherwise. I do notice that if you hop in it on a cold day, and try to take off immediately the car has a vibration type noise, until it warms up a little.) - My friends 14 Terrain also does the same things, so I was thinking it might be normal, or they might both be broke.

Anybody encountered this before? Thanks

Same engine here, and I have 55K miles, and I have never noticed my car doing that - and i am in the Northeast, so I have seen my share of cold weather.

Definitely be worth a trip to the dealer since it is repeatable. It is intermittent problems that dealers struggle with.

Yep, they are both broken.
That is not right. It may be as simple as a dirty throttle body but whatever it is, most likely will be covered by the warranty.

I am not sure if a dirty throttle body will be covered by the BtB warranty. Dirt may be considered normal maintenance like engine oil, and an oil filter, and it may be the owners responsibility. Just a thought...

It might be 56K - but, Yes.

About 8K per year.

My other vehicle is a 1998, with 118K miles. About 6K per year.

Guess I am not a good candidate for a Hybrid or EV !

True, and it's a lot easier to clean it yourself than to deal with maintenance.
For that matter just to look at it and see if it is nasty dirty

Re: 2014 'Nox Surging high idle.

I scheduled a throttle body cleaning with my Uncle's repair shop. And I'll check for pending codes too.

After I bought the car, he (who is a Chevy guy) was telling me how horrible the 2.4L engines are.... I hope hes wrong. My Mom has a 2.4 in her HHR with 110k and hasn't done one thing to that car; other than oil changes, tires and brakes.
