Yes. . too many people following too closely for the speed. I guess people have forgotten all about maintaining a "Safe Following Distance".
Glad to hear you and yours are safe.
Too many have forgotten about maintaining a safe following distance. Don't they teach that in driving school any more?
How do you do that? You pick a spot ahead on the highway . .. a road marker, sign, etc. And when the vehicle in front you reaches that marker. . . you count, One thousand 1, One thousand 2, One thousand 3. . . and add One Thousand 4 for good measure and that's when your vehicle should reach that mark. If you get to that mark sooner. . . it is not a safe following distance.
Yes, I know, people then like to use * YOUR * safe following distance for passing in front of you, swerving in and out of lanes, etc.
So . . . what to do. What I do is. . . Fall Back. Let the clowns bunch up on each other and make a big block of vehicles all on top of one another. What with speeds now 70 to 75 MPH on the interstates. .. I cruise along at 2, 3 or even 4 miles UNDER the limit and let the fools pass me. I am always "Driving Ahead" at least 1/4 to 1/2 mile looking ahead at what traffic looks like, what is going on, etc.
I try and avoid at all costs, getting caught in a big block of traffic with idiots all on top of one another. I try and stay in the center or far right lane. Let the fools have their passing lane. I see so many driving like they think they are NASCAR racing.
No excuse for driving like that. Not with texting and other distractions going on with drivers today.
Well .. . my 2 cents anyway
