Duplicate Terrain key

I want to copy my GMC Terrain keys, and it's pretty expensive in the dealership, so I wondered if there's a cheaper way of doing so.
I found this in Amazon: https://www.amazon.ca/uxcell-Keyless...ywords=gmc+key , but where can I cut the key and program the chip?

I live in BC Canada, if that's relevant.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Duplicate Terrain key

You can program the key yourself...search YouTube. My dealer actually cut my key for free in the parts department, but you're looking for a key shop that can handle laser cut keys.

Thanks for your response. Will that key from Amazon work, even though it is not GM original?
Also, about programming the key - is that YouTube clip accurate - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bUI1WxB3Xy0 ? Wonder if it is also applicable for 2015 model.

You found the correct video. Mine's a 2015 and that's the same process that worked on mine as well.

As far as the key on Amazon working even though it's not genuine GM, I would say it most likely will since its bering sold as a replacement GM key, but I'm sure once you have it cut, there won't be a return. If that concerns you, you can check eBay for a genuine GM key for around the sane price. My replacement key wasn't genuine GM, but after some research, found out it was the same company that makes GM's original keys.

Re: Duplicate Terrain key

The thing about that is I never trust aftermarket fobs. People come in at my shop all the time with aftermarket fobs to be programmed and half the time they don't program. Then there's the matter of finding a place that has a laser key cutter, which, around here at least I haven't found any place that cuts for less than $50. And every dealership is different, some charge for cuts, some don't.
