Equinox Panic Alarm Randomly going off

So I was at the dentist this afternoon and all of a sudden my panic alarm started going off. I didn't think anything of this as sometimes I hit it with the key ring so I thought maybe that is what it was or maybe a gust of wind or something whatever. But then about 30 seconds later it did it again. I would unlock it to shut it off and then rearm the alarm and it would instantly go off again. I thought maybe there was some interference with the remote around there but then the same thing happened at my house. I rearmed it and it started going off. I never got an attempted theft message until I was at the grocery store and it went off as I hit the unlock button. I read somewhere that this could be the hood latch sensor. May I add it was raining heavily all day so I don't know if that had something to do with it or not. This car has had problems before with the hood open message coming accord the DIC while driving with the hood obviously not open. That only happened once at around 8000 miles and it was taken to the dealership after being slammed pretty good and the problem never reoccurred. It currently only has about 32200 miles and I just can't believe a door sensor or hood sensor is already going out. This car has always been garage kept and well cared for. What do you guys think? I am trying to avoid the dealership for previous stated reasons about poor service but I also have no warranty and I don't want to have to pay for an easy fix.

Re: Equinox Panic Alarm Randomly going off

You may have a bad door, hood, or liftgate switch or it may just be out of calibration.
Try to narrow down which of the sensors is setting off the alarm.
When the alarm goes off you should see a message on the DIC like "hood ajar".

A wet switch or sensor can give you a false reading so take note if the problem continues when completely dry.
Any electrical switch/sensor can go bad at any time, out of calibration is also very comon.
Hope this helps.

Re: Equinox Panic Alarm Randomly going off

It hasn't happened appended again since it stopped raining. I didn't touch any of the doors until yesterday when I made sure the hood was shut. I can't see the DIC when it is going off because I am outside of the car without the keys in it the screen doesn't come on. When I get in the car afterward still no warnings for anything being open.
